2006 Fiesta of San Ramón 20 Aug

Day 3 of 5

Today we had a very good band. They are called “TOTEM.” They started playing at 9:pm and although there were only 3 guitars, a set of drums and a guy that played an electronic piano, they sounded like an orchestra!

The girl and one of the guys that played a guitar sang most of the numbers.

The music was really good and as you can see – although it’s not a good quality - the people enjoyed the band and were dancing in the Plaza Mayor.

When the band took an intermission at 10:30 pm, we went back to the peña.

A few ladies started making appetizers, and setting the table for dinner.

The left-over pork and Roquefort cheese sauce was reheated. When they made it initially, they made enough for 2 nights.

We had a little “unhappy camper.” It was getting past Carlos’ bedtime and he was getting a little cranky.

Margaret and Colin are enjoying a drink before dinner.

Here you can see the “early arrivals” – (working around the table from left to right) Margaret, Colin, Lola, Manolo, Jordi, Rosi, Pablo, and Miguel in the blue shirt.

The men serving the pork into plates – (left to right) Enrique, “Pep,” and Juan Carlos.

Pictures of the long table in the peña with EVERYBODY sitting down to eat.

You might have guessed that our peña is an old corral.

Our “dining room” is in the lower part, where the animals were kept.

The upper part, in what was the hay loft, and now serves as our “Lounge” area.

This is where we have a bunch of old sofas and chairs, plus a cooler and fridge where the beer and drinks are kept.

It might not look like much, but it’s a great place to get together, eat, drink and have a nice time.
